Lynn Meadows Discovery Center
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center offers Sensory Sundays, the second Sunday of each month from 10am – 12pm. Everyone will have the opportunity to have a fun, enjoyable and interactive learning experience in a comfortable and accepting environment! This exclusive free event includes modifications of a less crowded environment and light and sound reduction. The last Friday of every month, from 5pm to 8pm, admission is FREE for everyone! It’s a great time to “treat” friends and family members to a night at the museum!
Special Populations Program
Offers year-round activities and events for residents of all ages with mental and physical disabilities.
Disability Connection
Hosts events and programs for people with disabilities such as: Arbor Day Run/Walk/Roll, Art Ability Fair, "I Love My Playground Party", and Community Resource Fairs.
Disability Connection Community Playgrounds
Fully accessible playgrounds designed with special consideration of children and adults with disabilities. Restrooms and/or pavilions are available during events by prior arrangement.
Dream Program
Provides opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in organized sports, classroom and social activities. All programs are free to participants and their families and include: basketball, softball, bowling, flag football, music classes, arts and crafts, therapeutic horseback riding, water fitness and swimming classes, social dinners, and dances and floats in Mardi Gras Parades.
MS Coast Special Needs Soccer Association
Fosters physical, mental, and emotional growth of Mississippi's youth with special needs through soccer at all levels and ability of play.
MS Gulf Coast Buddy Sports
Provides recreational and leisure opportunities free of charge, for youths/adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other special needs. Offers Buddy Ball baseball, Kicking it with Buddies Kickball and Fishing with Buddies.
Special Olympics Mississippi
Provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
The Arc of Mississippi
Advocacy training, referral services, provides resources and support information to parents of children with disabilities, online direct support courses, educational advocacy for parents with school aged children and support for all people with disabilities, addiction prevention, legislative activities, supported decision making, community transition services, and direct support professional services.
Coalition for Citizens with Disabilities
Advocates for and promotes the full and equal participation of all Mississippians with disabilities in all aspects of life. MSPTI helps parents navigate child's rights in the school system.
Institute for Disability Studies
Provides supports and resources for individuals with disabilities, families and professionals at no cost. Services include: inclusive art and recreation, family support and engagement, inclusive volunteer opportunities, employment training and transition support. Also houses an extensive lending library offering assistive technology devices and recreational equipment for a no-cost 90 day loan.
LIFE of MS
Provide transition services, advocacy, skills training, peer support, information/referrals, and loan closet for medical equipment.
South Mississippi Regional Center
Serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Provides diagnostic services, IDD Community Support Program, Home and Community Based ID/DD Waiver Program, Community Home Programs, and provides 24-hour, sever day per week habilitative, therapeutic, and medical care treatment.
Disability Rights Mississippi
Provides services statewide to protect legal rights so individuals can have full inclusion in their jobs, homes, schools, and community.
